Special task force to probe four DBKL depts

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has set up a special task force to carry out a probe into four of its departments with the cooperation of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Deputy Federal Territories Minister Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan said the four departments were the Planning and Building Control Department, Housing Management and Community Development Department, Human Resource Management Department, as well as the Economic Planning and Development Department.
"Investigations into the four departments are ongoing and involve aspects of practice, work system and procedures used by all the departments concerned," he told reporters after opening the 47th DBKL Enforcer's Day here today.
Also present were City Mayor Datuk Seri Mhd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz, DBKL socio-economic development executive director Datuk Mohd Saufi Muhammad and DBKL Enforcement Department director Datuk Mustafa Mohd Nor.
Apart from that, Loga Bala said about 2,000 officers and staff in the four departments would be asked to declare their assets to ensure their integrity.
The deputy minister said if there were officers or employees found involved in corruption and integrity offences, DBKL would not hesitate to take disciplinary actions against them.
In his speech earlier , Loga Bala said enforcement officers and personnel should uphold their integrity when carrying out their duties for the wellbeing of the people and to boost the country's economy through government revenue collection.
"In carrying out duties, enforcers should always be careful in their very move and to follow proper procedures as a slight mistake may become viral in the social media and tarnish the image of DBKL," he said.
There are 2,154 enforcement officers and staff under DBKL Enforcement Department as at September this year. — Bernama
