Dewan Rakyat sitting set for Oct 17

KUALA LUMPUR: The next sitting of Dewan Rakyat is set to begin on Oct 17.

The Dewan Rakyat secretary, Datuk Roosme Hamzah (pix) said in a statement today that the Dewan Rakyat would sit for 25 days from Oct 17 until Nov 3 and the Dewan Negara for 10 days from Dec 5 till Dec 21.

She added that the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, who is also the Finance Minister, would table Budget 2017 on Oct 21.

It will be followed by the debate at Dewan Negara on Dec 5.

She added that the two houses would sit from 10am to 5.30pm on Mondays to Thursdays.

"The Special Chamber sitting will be held at the Special Chamber from 2.30pm to 4.30pm from Mondays to Thursdays," she said.

This coming sitting will also see the implementation of Ministers' Question Time (MQT).

The Dewan Rakyat Speaker, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia announced on Tuesday that the 30-minute session would be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays before the session for replies to oral questions. — Bernama
