KUALA LUMPUR: MIC has identified two parliamentary and state assembly seats that will be affected due to the Election Commission's (EC) proposed redelineation exercise.
Party president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam (pix) said the seats at parliamentary level are Tapah, Perak and Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan while at the state level they are Lunas, Kedah and Sg. Tua, Selangor.
"The redelineation will affect the proposed candidates (for the 14th General Election). Therefore, we have instructed the respective state chairmen to submit a protest to the EC by next week," he said in a news conference at MIC headquarters today.
When told that the EC has yet to include the racial breakdown in its proposal, Subramaniam said the party had conducted its own analysis.
"We have done an analysis by ourselves and we know which seats will have a negative impact should the re-delineation come into effect," he said.
The deadline to protest is Oct 14.
