SUNGAI BULOH: A mastermind of a gang impersonating police officers, known as "Gang Rizal Kundang", was shot by police here yesterday.
In the 5.25pm incident, the 42-year-old suspect was shot in front of a convenience store along Jalan DC 4/3 here.
Sungai Buloh police chief Supt Dr Abdul Aziz Awang Darus said police who were on patrol duty spotted a Naza Citra with two men in it near the Sungai Buloh Prison.
"Police checks found that the car was a stolen vehicle.
"The suspects sped off when police approached them and didn't heed the warning to stop. The driver dropped off his accomplice and continued speeding to Jalan DC 4/3," Abdul Aziz told reporters at the scene.
He said that police fired a shot at the back tyre of the vehicle.
"When police approached the suspect's car, the suspect charged forward to ram the police personnel which caused police to release five shots. One of the bullets hit the suspect's left arm," he added.
He said the suspect was clad in police attire, including pants and shoes.
The suspect was sent to Sungai Buloh hospital and is reported to be in a stable condition.
Checks also found three machetes, a bullet, and a set of allen keys.
Abdul Aziz said investigators learnt that the gang's most recent case was a robbery in Kuang, here, last week.
The case is being investigated under Section 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for robbery and armed robbery.
