33 illegal immigrants detained

GEORGE TOWN: 33 illegal immigrants were hauled up by police during an operation at the Northeast district today.
Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid in a statement that 43 personnel and officers from northeast district police station, immigration department and national registration department were on duty during the operation.
He said checks were conducted in several locations which saw about 170 people of various nationalities screened during the operation.
He said among those detained comprised of four Indonesians, twenty eight Bangladeshis and a Myanmar national, aged between 22 and 42 years old.
They will be investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
