Batu Kawan residents want quarry blasting activities to stop

BATU KAWAN: Residents here want and end to blasting activities at a quarry in the area, which has been going on for some five years.
Their spokesman, Azhar Ibrahim, 47 said the latest incident was last Friday, which caused cracks at several houses including his.
"The glass of my house's sliding door, floor tiles and several glass items in my house were also cracked to pieces," he told reporters here yesterday.

Batu Kawan Federal Village Development and Security Committee chairman Abdul Halim Othman claimed that the operation at the quarries had affected some 20,000 residents and damaged hundreds houses.
