Tony Fernandes not involved with viral sponsored content on social media

PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Tony Fernandes (pix) has no part in the viral sponsored content that is making its rounds in social media, AirAsia has clarified.
"We would like to clarify that Tan Sri Tony Fernandes has not endorsed these advertisements and we urge the public to ignore them and to refrain from sharing the articles in question," it said in a statement today.
Sponsored advertisements featuring the AirAsia Group CEO have been going viral in 'click-bait' headlines like "Tony Fernandes Reveals Easy Work at Home Trick (Quit your job in 30 days!)" in Facebook circulating for various unverified portals.
"We refer to sponsored advertisements on Facebook linking to articles claiming to quote AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes, e.g.
"They will EAT me alive for this!", "They'll take my HEAD, every Malaysian needs to watch this", "They want my HEAD for revealing
this secret'," it listed a few examples of the advertisements that have been garnering interest.
"For those who wish to know more about Tony Fernandes or AirAsia, please refer to our official social media channels or credible news sources for information."
Fernandes is active on his Twitter via his Twitter handle @tonyfernandes and has re-tweeted: "You may have seen sponsored ads on Facebook abt @tonyfernandes. Pls note it's a fraud. Ignore as it maybe malware/ virus."
