Call to bring Legoland to cancer-stricken boy

PETALING JAYA: Three friends are leading the race to bring Lego gifts to cancer-stricken 11-year-old Muhammad Danish Maarif.
Appealing to the public to make Danish's dream a reality, coordinator for the "Legoland for Danish" project Wan Shahriza Wan Ab Rahman said the boy's mother had spoken of his dream to visit Legoland in Johor but he was no longer able to travel physically due to his condition.
This was after Danish was declared on Saturday as no longer receiving medical treatment after his cancer cells spread all over his body.
"His chemotherapy was stopped, the operation that was scheduled for him was also cancelled. Danish is now very weak, and was allowed to return home to rest.
"I complained to MaryAnne Isaac Ethan and Maz Waheed, and told them if we cannot take him to Legoland, let's bring Legoland to him," she said in a Facebook posting on Sunday.
Wan Shahriza said they had initially planned to take Danish, who is suffering from Osteosarcoma, personally to Legoland after completing his chemotherapy regime, but was forced into other alternatives since.
Driven by the generosity and effort by several Malaysians to put a smile back on Danish's face, Wan Shahriza had since agreed to lead the project, and has given a deadline of Sept 29 as the cut-off day for the Lego gifts, considering his critical condition.
"We are urging as many people as possible to make Legoland For Danish a reality. Complete your Lego to your creativity, and send them to us. We may not have much time. Also, Whatsapp me pictures of you completing them for collection," she said.
The gifts can be delivered or sent personally to Wan Shahriza Wan Ab Rahman, Maktab Rendah Sains Mara Kuantan, Jalan Tok Sira 25050 Kuantan.
Wan Shahriza can be contacted at 019-9323361 (Whatsapp only).
