Ipoh Deepavali Carnival to be held from Oct 15 to 29

IPOH: The annual Deepavali carnival for the Indian community in conjunction with the festive season will be held at Little India here from Oct 15 to 29.
There will be daily cultural shows, which will be held on a stage to entertain shoppers, from Oct 21 to 27.
This is the 25th year the event is being organised by the Ipoh Barat MIC division and this year it is being jointly organised with the Ipoh Little India Traders' Association.
Deepavali falls on Oct 29.
Divison chairman Datuk G.Rajoo said a total of 120 stalls would be taken up by the traders
Of the number, he said 20 were being allocated to the famous kacang putih traders, 30 to small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) and 10 for single mothers.
"The fees will be waived for single mothers while a token sum will be charged for SME traders," he added.
He said last year about 300,000 people visited the carnival and they are expecting more this time.
