PETALING JAYA: French police are still investigating the case of missing Malaysian student Norsakinah Naim in Normandy, France.
According to the Malaysian embassy in Paris, the 19-year-old's roommate had informed them of her disappearance on Sunday.
"There are no updates at the moment. The case still remains under investigation and we have left it to the French police," said a spokesman from the embassy when contacted by theSun today.
It is learnt that the roommate had suspected something amiss after discovering Norsakinah's mobile phone left unattended in their rented room.
The embassy has since lodged two police reports in Paris and Normandy prior to informing the family.
According to earlier reports, the student's father, Naim Awang, 46, told reporters that the embassy had contacted him on Monday, to inform him of his daughter's disappearance.
Naim also said Norsakinah last contacted the family on Sept 23 and was cheerful during the conversation.
Sponsored by the Public Services Department, Norsakinah was pursuing a course in chemical engineering at the Rouen Institute University of Technology (IUT) in Normandy, 140km north of Paris since last year.
