Two friends charged in murder of woman and daughter

JOHOR BARU: Two jobless youths were charged in the magistrate's court here today with killing a mother and her daughter in Taman Puteri Wangsa on Sept 21, this year.
Subramaniam Rahdakrishnan, and his friend, Uvaneswaran Letchuman, both in their 20s were charged with the murder of Mariayee Muthiah, 56 and her daughter Durga Dewi Chellamuthu, 17 at No.51, Jalan Beladau 40, Taman Puteri Wangsa, Ulu Tiram between 10am to 11am on Sept 21.
They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 340 of the same law, which provides for the death sentence on conviction.
The charge was read to both accused before magistrate Salina Omar. No plea was recorded.
DPP Nur Baiduri Mustakim said the forensic report on the case has not yet been completed.
Salina set Nov 1 for the post-mortem report to be submitted and the case to be transferred to high court.
The accused were unrepresented.
