Oct 14 mention date for Sanjeevan's extortion case

KUALA LUMPUR: The case of MyWatch chairman Datuk R. Sri Sanjeevan Nair (pix), who was charged with extortion, has been fixed for mention at the magistrate's court on Oct 14.
Sanjeevan, 31, had claimed trial to a charge of putting Mohamad Azhan Hamza, 32, in fear, in order to commit extortion, at about 9pm at Restoran Marakesh at Jalan Raja Uda, Kampong Baru on May 22, 2014.
The charge is under Section 385 of the Penal Code, which is punishable for seven years or fine or whipping or with any of the two of the punishments, on conviction.
DPP Noorelynna Hanim Abd Halim appeared for the prosecution while lawyer Joanne Chua, represented the accused.
Sanjeevan, who appeared in court today, was earlier charged with cheating involving RM95,000, extortion and another charge relating to immigration in the magistrate's court here, Temerloh and Seremban respectively.
