KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu Government allocated RM10.5 million this year, for education aid involving 105,000 students.

Mentri Besar Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman (pix) said RM200 was given to each student, with a maximum of two students to a family.

"The application for the aid is now open via online. It is expected that cash vouchers can be handed out from Dec 1 to 15," he told reporters after the state executive council meeting here today.

Last year, Ahmad Razif said the state government had allocated RM10,233,800 to 102,738 students, whose household income was below RM2,000 per month.

He said the assistance was the state government's commitment to help Terengganu's less fortunate.

Ahmad Razif said the meeting had approved an allocation of RM2 million for the Terengganu Foundation's Higher Education Fund to help students who were studying abroad.

He said students from the state, who were not sponsored and came from low-income families, could apply for loans through the Terengganu Foundation, beginning next week. — Bernama
