Three senators take oath for second term

KUALA LUMPUR: Three people took their oaths as Senators for the second term today, including the Batu Umno division chief Datuk Yahaya Mat Ghani, 58.
The other two were the secretary-general of the National Silat Federation (Pesaka) Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin, 47, and the Putrajaya Umno division deputy head Datuk Seri Khairudin ES Abd Samad, 62.
The three took their oaths in front of Dewan Negara president Datuk S A Vigneswaran at the Parliament building here.
Yahaya, from Pasir Puteh, Kelantan told reporters that he would continue his struggle to look out for the urban poor community.
Megat Zulkarnain, who is also the vice-president of the Malaysian Olympic Council, said he would be the voice of the younger generation in ensuring their rights and roles were given priority.
Meanwhile, Khairudin who is the President of the Malaysian Senators Council, said he would stress on national sovereignty. — Bernama
