300 students and lecturers of private college evacuated after bomb threat hoax

PETALING JAYA: Some 300 students and lecturers of a private college in Bandar Utama here were evacuated after the college received a bomb threat today.
Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said police were alerted to the incident at 12.30pm.
"The college staff received a call from an unidentified man who made a bomb threat."
He said police immediately evacuated the building as a precautionary measure and some 300 people gathered about a kilometre away from the college building.
The bomb-disposal unit and the canine (K9) unit from Selangor police headquarters were deployed to inspect the building but found no explosive materials.
The students, lecturers and university staff were allowed to enter the premises by 2.30pm after the building was deemed safe and free of threats.
On Sept 30, a similar bomb hoax incident occurred at Bursa Malaysia and the Kortumalai Sri Ganesar Temple in Jalan Pudu Lama which resulted in some 1,000 people being evacuated from both premises.
