KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAB) does not expect more funding from its sole shareholder Khazanah Nasional Bhd, said its CEO Peter Bellew.
"We're not looking for anymore funding. We have an agreed programme with Khazanah. We're meeting all the targets that Khazanah set. If we can, I gotta try and get the plan executed earlier than we have planned," he told reporters after announcing that the airline is now the official global airline partner for Liverpool FC today.
Bellew said the carrier's load factor has been around 71-73% over the last couple of months and it is aiming to increase it to 80% in the next 18 months.
On its plans to increase frequency to China, he said it is trying to secure more slots to airports in Beijing and Shanghai.
"Of our overall ASKs, around 5-6% is from China. We are trying to double this in the next 18 months," he added.
