Motorcycle theft syndicate crippled

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police have smashed a motorcycle theft syndicate with the arrest of 11 men and two women during an operation on Monday.
Central Seberang Perai district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the suspects were detained following raids at several premises during the operation which began at 2pm.
He said the raids were conducted here, at Tasek Gelugor and stretched to Padang Serai, Kedah following tip-offs from the public.
"Those detained are aged between 19 to 40-years-old," he said when contacted by reporters.
Nik Ros Azhan said the raiding teams managed to seized five motorcycles, several tools, a knife and several ATM cards but the value of the seized items were still being determined.
The case is being investigated for vehicle theft under the Penal Code.
