Senior citizen killed in hit-and-run accident

GEORGE TOWN: A 67-year-old senior citizen was killed in an apparent hit-and-run accident just after midnight today.
Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the victim was identified as Teoh Lye Imm.
He said Teoh was crossing Jalan Bukit Gambier when a speeding motorcycle hit her during the incident about 12.40am.
He said the suspect fled the scene towards the direction of George Town with the help of a friend on another motorcycle.
"Passers-by tried to gave chase but were not successful," he said in a statement but added the motorcycle of the suspect was left at the scene.
Police are now on the hunt for the suspect and the case is investigated under the Road Transport Act 1987.
