Utility workers assaulted over cutting water supply due to unpaid bills

KULAI: A video of two water utility company workers being assaulted after cutting off water supply to a house where the bill hasn't been paid for several months has gone viral.

The two victims seen in the video were both working for a contractor appointed by water utility company SAJ Holdings Sdn Bhd. They were seen in the video being punched, kicked and even threatened with a hoe from the men who lived in the house.

Kulai district police chief Supt Razak Md Said said that the suspects allegedly assaulted the victims using their hands and helmets.

"One of the suspects even threatened to hit him (one of the victims) with a hoe," he said.

He said the victims suffered injuries on the face and the hands. They were given outpatient treatment at the Kulai Hospital for soft tissue injury.

Police are currently on the hunt for the two suspects, who fled after the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 506 for criminal intimidation.
