Contingent liabilities a pressure, but no worry of default

KUALA LUMPUR: Contingent liabilities are a pressure but there are no worries in terms of default, said the Secretary General of Treasury Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah.
"Contingent liabilities, of course we realise it is a pressure. But when we break down the contingent liabilities, those guarantees which government provide are all entities which are strong, credible and can pay off their dues," he said during the 2017 Post-Budget Dialogue organised by the Malaysian Economic Association.
"For example Khazanah, Prasarana, even MRT and LRT which we finance for their big capital items. Although there is pressure, there is no worry in terms of default," he added.
