PETALING JAYA: Petra Energy Bhd's unit Petra Resources Sdn Bhd signed a contract with Sabah Shell Petroleum Co Ltd yesterday to provide topside maintenance execution services for the Gumusut-Kakap and Malikai deepwater platforms.
No monetary value was given for the contract, which runs for two years with an option to extend for an additional year.
Petra Resources will provide contract management, site execution and offshore maintenance crew to undertake maintenance for the two platforms.
“Topside maintenance and hook-up commissioning is the group’s core competency and we are very pleased with the award of the contracts from Shell. The signing today at the Sabah Oil and Gas 2017 signifies the good working relationship we have with Shell in Sabah. We are proud to be recognised by a global energy company to undertake works for Malaysia’s deepwater assets,” said Petra Energy group CEO Datuk Anthony @ Firdauz Bujang.
Petra Resources will ensure local participation through its partnership with Sabah-based Evolusi Bersatu Sdn Bhd.
“The contract award marks another milestone for the local private sector in helping the state government accelerate Sabah’s social and economic development. Such recognition exhibits our ability to raise Sabah’s profile and position in the oil and gas industry. We believe our contribution will help to elevate the country’s talent, skills, and expertise towards becoming one of the region’s key exploration and production centres in the near future,” said Evolusi Bersatu managing director Mohd Tolling.
