WITH a multitude of fields and vast potential for growth, business has long been a popular choice among students.
As Malaysia gears towards becoming a high income nation, it is expected that lucrative career opportunities in the business field will increase. However, a successful career in the business field first begins with a solid base, and students can find this at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia.
Heriot-Watt University has been making a name for itself in the business field, earning accolades such as placing 27th in the UK and fourth in Scotland, according to the Guardian University Guide 2017 for years.
Additionally, Heriot-Watt was also ranked in the Top 25 for its programmes, which include Accounting & Finance, by the Complete University Guide 2017.
Heriot-Watt University Malaysia's School of Social Science offers a wide array of Business and Psychology-related courses.
The university provides students a professionally relevant education by working with industry professionals in designing its curricula.
These programmes have also been structured to meet the membership requirements of the relevant professional bodies.
Tan Wen Dee is currently in her third year of Heriot-Watt's undergraduate business programme. Talking about her experience, she says: "I chose to do business because I had some exposure during my time in secondary school. Since Heriot-Watt offered me a scholarship for my studies, I decided to start my business journey here. My time here has been nothing short of amazing. The programme content doesn't just focus on theories, but also the practical and real life application of these theories; I am able to get a glimpse into the business world, and see how things operate. What's more, I've made many new friends, and I know that when it's time for me to leave I'll have a tonne of stories to tell about my time here."
Additionally, the university's strong presence in the UK, Dubai and Malaysia allows Heriot-Watt students to transfer within campuses for a period of time during the course of their studies through its inter-campus transfer programme Go Global.
Students can transfer as long as their programme is offered at the campus of choice, plus the use of the same syllabus at these campuses eliminates any academic barriers.
For more information on the Go Global programme, and the programmes and scholarships offered at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, visit its campus in Putrajaya.
