WATSONS Malaysia recently launched a year-long #GETACTIVE campaign, a global Watsons health initiative, in conjunction with World Health Day.
At the launch of the campaign, Watsons Malaysia general manager and country head Caryn Loh said, “Watsons Malaysia is once again setting its foot ahead with this health campaign. With support from our key business partners and through the extensive loyalty programme with our customers, we hope this campaign will inject healthy living in every one.
“We will continue to build a better range and give better offers and better rewards. We want our consumers to relate to Watsons Malaysia as a one-stop health and beauty store,” she added.
AMBASSADORS TO GET YOU GOING
Present at the launch were key business and merchant partners, along withWatsons #GETACTIVE ambassadors –Malaysia’s first female professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Ann Osman; actress and cycling enthusiast Lenna Lim; and fitness influencer Kit Mah. Local sports commentator Mark O’dea was unable to make the launch.
The event saw the ambassadors happy to share their personal health and wellness tips, which they practise in their daily lives.
For Lim, cycling was a hobby she picked up a year ago. “I enjoy cycling because it’s fun. I get to see attractive sights and beautiful lakes. It helps boost my mental health.”
Ann, on the other hand, said: “In MMA, which is known to be aggressive and predominantly male-dominated, that motivates me. I go one step further by working hard and being dedicated. It is the same discipline you need to lead a healthy lifestyle – with a balanced diet and exercise.” She also shared that she picked up MMA in her 20s out of curiosity and for health reasons.
Mah however, got the crowd up and about. Guests were seen doing simple exercises together with him, such as tip-toeing to strengthen calf muscles. Encouraging people to get started and living healthy, he suggested simple exercises such as taking the stairs. “These are basic things you can start doing today.”
Watsons Malaysia registered pharmacist Cheryl Lai was present to educate the crowd on the benefits of exercising. “Activities such as cycling, swimming and running are known as aerobic exercises. They are low-impact exercises where you do not get hurt easily. Just two to four hours of exercise a week can improve your general health,” she said.
