MBI will absorb MOT for 1,500 strata units in Pinggiran Batu Caves

GOMBAK: Selangor's Mentri Besar Incorporated (MBI) will absorb the Memorandum Of Transfer (MOT) payment from the sales and purchase (S&P) agreement for over 1,500 strata units at Pangsapuri Pinggiran Batu Caves.
Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said MBI has managed to resolve the issue for two out of five blocks, where the remaining three will be settled by June.
"The owners and residents of these units come from lower income families and it is the responsibility of the government to assist them so that the strata ownership can be implemented as soon as possible.
"Some of them have waited for over 26 years. Since the apartment's land is owned by MBI, we have agreed to absorb the cost," Azmin told reporters after attending the 'Peduli Rakyat' programme held at the apartment building here.
Azmin said the initiative was made after his government had listened to the plight of the residents on the rising cost of living, which made it difficult for them to pay the MOT.
"The cost of the MOT is about RM1,000 to RM1,300 per unit, and this has burdened the people due to the rising cost of living.
"We have about 1,500 units here, and this will involve a huge sum, but MBI can still afford it," he said.
Earlier, Azmin went on a tour of the area and had breakfast at the Pinggiran Batu Caves Food Court.
State government excos Datuk Dr Iskandar Abdul Samad, Amirudin Shari, Dr Daroyah Alwi and Zaidy Abdul Talib were also present at the event.
