SHAH ALAM: Selangor police will summon activist, Peter Chong Fook Meng, over his claims that he had gone to Thailand to obtain information on Pastor Raymond Koh Keng Joo's abduction.
Selangor Criminal Investigations Department chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat (pix), who is heading the task force on Koh's abduction, said they will contact him soon to record his statement on the matter.
Since Chong has been declaring himself as a close friend to the pastor, he said, probably he might have some information on his (Koh) disappearance.
"We do not know whether he can assist but we want to check out his claims. We need to get his statement recorded as the task force has never rested since Koh's abduction, said Fadzil after attending Selangor contingent Integrity Award at the state police headquarters today.
Fadzil is hoping that Chong would shed some light into what he found out about Koh so that they can pursue the matter and solve the case.
He added the Selangor CID will let Dang Wangi police to investigate the 'MIA' period of Chong but our intention calling him up to come forward to assist the pastor's abduction case," he said.
Koh, 62, was believed to have been abducted by masked men on Feb 13 at Jalan SS4B/10 in Petaling Jaya.
A two minute 53 seconds long video surfaced after the abduction went viral on the social media.
In the video, Koh was seen allegedly kidnapped by a group of men in seven vehicles in under a minute in what appears to be a well planned and professionally executed operation.
Meanwhile, Chong was reported to have gone missing on April 6 but returned to Malaysia 11 days later with claims that he had gone to Thailand to meet a source who has information on Koh's abduction.
Chong also alleged that he was kidnapped after arriving in Haadyai and was subsequently brought to Pattaya.
On Tuesday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said police are in the midst of checking with Pattaya Police on Chong's abduction claim.
Earlier in the event, 18 policemen including traffic police officers from the Selangor contingent received Integrity Award for their outstanding performance coupled with their admirable trait of maintaining their integrity in the face of bribery.
Also present were Selangor deputy police chief DCP Datuk Mohd Fuad Abd Latiff and Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Comission (MACC) director Datuk Wan Ramli Wan Abdullah besides other districts' police chiefs.
