Housewife sues govt, doctor RM20m over loss of left breast

KUALA LUMPUR: A housewife has filed a medical lawsuit against the government and a doctor for negligence, claiming that a botched heart procedure cause her to lose her left breast.
The suit was filed by Pertemahwadi Isac through her lawyer Datuk Dr Arunan Selvaraj at the Kuala Lumpur High Court, today.
In the suit Pertemahwadi named Serdang Hospital cardiothoracic specialist Dr Abdul Muiz Jasid and the Government as defendants. She is claiming RM20 million in general and aggravated damages, and RM223,487.60 in special damages, among other reliefs.
Speaking to reporters, Arunan said his client decided filed the suit after claiming that the hospital failed to provide an explanation on the incident, which is alleged to have occurred when the doctor performed by-pass surgery on her.
