Parliament receives 'special deer' visitors

    KUALA LUMPUR: Parliament received unusual 'visitors' comprising a group of deer that suddenly trodded in and were seen frolicking in the pool in the compound of the main tower of Parliament, at about 11.45am yesterday.
    According to a security guard at Parliament House known only as Azwari, a group of about seven deer from the tens of deer reared in Taman Rusa, located adjacent to the visitors parking area at the Parliament building, was believed to have become separated from the herd and entered the Parliament compound where the Senate session was in progress.
    "Three of the deer went into the pool and frolicked around, while some others hovered around the fenced area near the main entrance.
    "All the deer were captured and placed back in the enclosure about an hour later, without any untoward incident," he told Bernama.
    The incident attracted the attention of of Deputy Works Minister Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin who was in Parliament to attend the Dewan Negara sitting today. She also posted a picture of a deer on her Facebook page, with the status 'Today a herd of deer visited the Parliament House trying out the pool '.
    The tens of Axis axis species of deer which were presented by former Indonesian president, Suharto, to Malaysia have been placed in an open space that has been made the Taman Rusa. — Bernama
