Zairil explains purported intimate photos to DAP

GEORGE TOWN: Bukit Mertajam MP Zairil Khir Johari has explained to the DAP leadership on photographs purportedly showing him and a woman in an intimate moment.

Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow said the parliamentarian had explained the matter to him and to party secretary general Lim Guan Eng on Wednesday afternoon.

“Seeing that this is a personal attack against him, Zairil has requested to deal with the matter for now,” Chow said in a brief statement today.

The photos that went viral on social media show a man resembling the first term parliamentarian being intimate with a woman who resembles Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud of the DAP Youth.

This is not the first time such photos and videos of two persons resembling them both in intimate moments have surfaced.

Zairil has since denied he was the man in the latest photo while Dyana Sofya has noted this was the third personal attack in two months and assumed the general elections was near.

Meanwhile, Penang Gerakan Publicity Bureau chief Ooi Zhi Yi urged both of them to lodge police reports if they felt they have been framed.

He said it was high time they lodged police reports to stop those responsible from resorting to personal attacks.

He added the state chapter was against any form of personal attacks and would never condone gutter politics.

“If actions are not taken against the culprits, we will be allowing them to roam freely and indirectly encouraging them to conduct even more personal attacks,” he said in a statement.
