More than a thousand traffic summonses issued to school students

SHAH ALAM: Police have issued more than a thousand traffic summonses to school students following an operation to educate errant road users.
Selangor traffic enforcement and investigation department chief Supt Kamaludin Mohamad said police conducted a three-day operation, codenamed "Ops Didik" earlier this week aimed at parents and students mostly on motorcycles who violate traffic rules near schools.
"We are zeroing in on students and parents who ride motorcycles without helmets, without valid licenses and other traffic offences.
“We issued 1,186 summonses to students for various offences, including not wearing a helmet, no valid road tax, no valid licence, no side mirrors, and fancy number plates,” he told a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters today.
He said the majority of the summonses were issued to Form Five students (624).
“We also found students in Form One (14), Two (73) and Three (187) committing such offences as well,” he said.
