No agreement yet on reclamation project

GEORGE TOWN: No agreement has taken place between Project Delivery Partner (PDP) and SRS Consortium on the proposed reclamation project on the southern island.
State Local Government, Traffic and Flood Mitigation committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow (pix) said SRS Consortium's proposal would be further discussed with the state and the relevant federal government agencies and regulatory bodies to secure the necessary approvals for implementation.
He said SRS Consortium was also still in the process of securing the necessary approvals from the relevant federal authorities.
"As such, no agreement has been signed between PDP and us.
"Full transparency has been practiced in the implementation of the project, such as disclosure of Request for Proposal (RFP) documents by SRS Consortium for public viewing and feedback from Jan 16 to Feb 17," he said in a statement.
The state Gerakan has been pressing for a disclosure of details on the reclamation deal and questioned why the land size involved had increased from 1618.7ha to 1821ha.
Chow clarified that the total land size to be reclaimed is in fact 4,500 acres comprising of three islands.
