GEORGE TOWN: Police believe a 50-year-old priest who escaped unhurt after being shot at multiple times in front of his house on Friday had a misunderstanding with another person.
Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said initial investigations revealed there was a disagreement between the priest and a person he knew.
"We are conducting further investigations into the incident," he said in a statement today.
Mior said the priest who was cleaning his house compound during the 9.50pm incident immediately rushed inside and alerted police after escaping unhurt.
He said fortunately, there were no casualties as the man's wife and three children were inside the house during the shooting.
Mior said the suspect could not be recognised as he was wearing a full-faced helmet, adding that investigators were looking for him.
The elderly man miraculously survived when a man on a motorcycle fired three shots at him in Jalan Satu, Air Itam.
Investigations have since been carried out for attempted murder under the Penal Code.
