Two Bangladeshi workers killed in landslide in Hulu Langat

KAJANG: Two Bangladeshi workers were killed after they were buried alive when a landslide hit their living quarters in Hulu Langat today.
The duo were part of the Langat 2 water treatment plant construction workers who were staying at a living quarters for the workers.
Kajang district police chief ACP Othman Nayan said police were alerted about the incident at around 4am on a landslide in Kg Sungai Serai and a search and rescue team was despatched to the scene.
"Investigations showed that the landowner had renovated an existing farmhouse and rented it out to workers of the Langat 2 project," he said.
Eleven Bangladeshis and nine Indonesian workers were staying at the renovated farmhouse.
"Continuous rain in the past few days could have triggered the landslide. The search for other possible victims is continuing with the help of the Kajang Fire and Rescue Department," he added.
The Bangladeshis death have been classified as sudden death report.
Meanwhile, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul the firemen in the area have been directed to be on standby for such disasters especially with the current weather conditions.
