GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today defended the economic performance of his administration.
He said the state GDP (gross domestic product) per capita has been growing since 2009 to 2015, one year after the Pakatan government came to power.
He said Penang ranked seventh in that period, sixth in the 2010 to 2015 period, third in the 2011 to 2015 period and first in the 2013 to 2015 and 2014 to 2015 period.
He said the figures were calculated from Dr Lim Kim Hwa, formerly of the Penang Institute, who studied exonomics at Cambridge University.
"This is the result of a clean government based on CAT (competency, accountability, transparency)," he added.
His defence comes after EPU Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan posted that Penang recorded the lowest GDP per capita growth for the 2005 to 2015 period on Twitter.
