Religious school student who was beaten by assistant warden has his legs amputated

JOHOR BARU: Eleven-year-old Mohd Thaqif Amin who was allegedly beaten by an assistant warden in a private religious school in Kota Tinggi on March 28, successfully underwent a surgery to amputate both his legs.
Johor Health and Environment committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said in a statement today that Mohd Thaqif may have other health complications and that doctors at the Sultan Ismail Hospital needed more time to ascertain this.
He urged netizens to stop speculating and spreading false news as to the circumstances that led to the boy's current predicament.
He said both of the Mohd Thaqif's legs had to be amputated in order to prevent further infection.
It is believed that Mohd Thaqif is also suffering from a blood clotting disorder and kidney disease.
In the incident on March 28, Mohd Thaqif and his classmates were allegedly bashed with a hose by the assistant warden.
He left the school on March 31.
Ayub added, the boy had sought traditional medicinal treatment before he was admitted to the hospital, on April 19.
It is learnt that the other boys who were beaten did not suffer any serious injuries.
Kota Tinggi District Police chief Supt Rahmat Othman confirmed the case and said is still under investigation.
