Elderly man assaults young man on train, demands sex

AN American expat living in Singapore has taken to Facebook to share his horrifying experience of being physically and verbally assaulted by an elderly Singaporean man on the MRT.
Joe DeMarini posted a video of his assault on Facebook, and the clip has since gone viral, amassing almost 20,000 shares from angry netizens.
In the video, the drunk older man shouts at Joe and accuses him of being gay. He then admits to being gay as well and vulgarly asks the young man to have sex with him. "I want you to **** me tonight!" he shouts repeatedly, despite Joe saying he is not interested.
Joe's female friend tries to intervene but the man starts yelling at her too and continues to shout profanities. The man even claimed that Joe had been sending him "signals" throughout the journey.
Joe, who tries to politely diffuse the situation, briefly loses his temper when the man touches him. When Joe shouts back, the man reacts violently by slapping him across his head, to the horror of other commuters. Before the situation could get out of hand, a male passenger steps in and finally convinces the man to calm down.
The man even followed Joe and his female companion when they alighted the train, although they managed to evade him.
"I wish I'd said thank you to the train people who took a stand and put themselves between me and this man, but I was too rattled to muster it (at least I could thank my friend, who had the good sense to make a video).
"I've made this video public in the hopes that people will share it; maybe it'll reach another passenger who was filming it or someone will recognise this man, and he won't be able to do this to anyone ever again," Joe shared on Facebook.
Netizens were furious and many fellow Singaporeans said they were ashamed of the man's rude behaviour.
Joe also said he is planning to lodge a police report on the incident.
