Govt servant, 29 others nabbed for drug abuse

GEORGE TOWN: A government servant was among 30 people arrested during a raid at an entertainment outlet near here yesterday.
According to Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid, the government employee worked as a administration assistant at a government agency located at the Bayan Lepas International Airport.
He said in the 4am special operation, police also confiscated various drugs including marijuana and ecstasy pills.
He said the suspects who were detained were between 18 and 46 years old and tested positive for morphine, amphetamine and ketamine.
All suspects have been remanded between one and four days from Saturday to facilitate investigations.
"Entertainment outlets should not become a place for drug abuse. Police will conduct operations from time to time at entertainment outlets which are found to engage in such actities," he said in a statement.
He also urged the public to become the eyes and ears of the police and come forward to furnish information on drug activities in their area.
