JOHOR BARU: Johor Baru police have issued summons to three Mat Lajak in a special operation against the use of modified bicycles on Saturday.
The trio were found cycling along Jalan Hang Jebat 1, Taman Tun Aminah here on Saturday at noon.
North Johor Baru police chief ACP Mohd Taib Ahmad said summons were issued under Section 42 (1) (a)LN166/59 of Road Traffic Rules 1959 for illegal modified bicycles, and their bicycles were also confiscated under Section 112(3) of the Road Transportation Act 1987.
He urged parents or guardian to keep a close watch on their children.
"Parents and teen cyclists should learn a lesson from the tragedy in February involving teen cyclists," he said, referring to the case of a car that ploughed into a group of cyclists and claimed 8 lives at Jalan Lingkaran Dalam, Johor Baru around 3am on Feb 18.
Despite this, some hardcore cyclists refused to learn their lesson and 14 Mat Lajak were arrested at the same spot on April 3.
On Aprill 7, police found 30 Mat Lajak on night rides in the Kulai district.
