2019 Asian Cup qualifiers can be played at Hassan Yunos Stadium: Khairy

PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Youth and Sports welcomes the decision of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) to play all 2019 Asian Cup qualifying matches at Tan Sri Hassan Yunus Stadium, Larkin, Johor Baru.
Its minister, Khairy Jamaluddin said the decision for the Malaysian national team to play their matches in Johor Bahru was made based on the best facilities available at Tan Sri Hassan Yunos Stadium.
“I do not have a problem with the national team playing in Johor Baru but for the SEA Games, the matches will be played in Kuala Lumpur," he told reporters after signing a SEA Games sponsorship agreement with McDonald's Malaysia, here today.
Yesterday, FAM secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin confirmed that all Malaysia’s Group B qualifying matches of the 2019 Asian Cup would take place at Tan Sri Hassan Yunus Stadium.
He said the FAM had sent a letter to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) on the matter.
Previously, the 2019 Asian Cup qualifying matches were played at Shah Alam Stadium (Selangor) and National Stadium Bukit Jalil (Kuala Lumpur). — Bernama
