Johor encourages organisations, public agencies to sign anti-corruption pledge

ISKANDAR PUTRI: All public organisations and agencies in the state have been urged to extend the Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) to their employees to make Johor a state which is clean and free of corruption.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin (pix) said this was because they (the employees) were the ones carrying out the tasks and as such, it was important that they be free of any corrupt activities for as long as they worked with the government.

"I believe a government is good not because of a good system but because of the staff. We must find a way to ensure that only the trustworthy are in our system. Those who cheat should not be trusted by the people and nation," he said in his speech at the launch of the state government's -MOVE programme here today.

Mohamed Khaled said the IBR was a new initiative by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to allow organisation heads and staff to sign the pledge voluntarily.

He also said the time had come for key performance indicators (KPI) to be extended to every state civil servant.

"By putting clear targets and KPIs, it would not only make civil servants more focused but would also make Johor a state which shows it is serious in changing and empowering the civil service." he said. — Bernama
