Government agencies advised to upgrade public service system

TAWAU: Government agencies are advised to upgrade traditional public service systems to more advanced systems which are more efficient and effective, said Resource Development and Information Technology assistant minister, Datuk Hamisa Samat.
He said by changing the existing manual system to electronic or smart system it would ease the work process, thus promoting a more conducive work environment and better service to the public.
"It is important for the government agencies to provide the public with online access to services and information so that their physical presence are not required at the office premises," he said when officiating an information communications technology (ICT) seminar here, today.
A total of 94 civil servants from state government departments in Tawau, Kunak and Semporna attended the programme.
Hamisa also encouraged government officers to think creatively and be innovative in streamlining and integrating work processes to create excellent workflow solutions towards improved productivity and efficiency.
Meanwhile, Hamisa who is also Tanjung Batu state assemblyman said the misuse of internet in government offices should be monitored as excessive usage could cause network congestion which leads to problems in accessing to government application systems.
"Attention must also be given to ICT security as negligence and mismanagement can lead to to threats including malicious activity which can put the department at risk," he said. — Bernama
