10-year-old budding golfer joins fray at Damai Laut Golf Series

LUMUT: The first of six legs of the Damai Laut Golf Series 2017 teed off to a swinging start at Damai Laut Golf & Country Club (DLGCC) in Lumut, Perak, with 47 players taking to the fairways for a fun round of golf. The youngest player in the field was 10-year-old budding golfer.
The April 23 tournament was played in strokeplay format and the game progressed smoothly and ended with a feisty prize giving lunch.
“Damai Laut Golf & Country Club under the able leadership of Kay Leong has undergone great transformation to become one of the best golf courses in Malaysia,” said the resort’s General Manager Patrick Tee during the prize giving lunch.
“This has led to the recent Top 3 Best Improved Golf Course in Malaysia award that the Damai Laut Golf & Country Club has won in the Par Golf People’s Choice Award 2017. Another award which our club won is the Top 3 Most Scenic Golf Course in Malaysia by Par Golf for the second consecutive year.
“The awards are in line with the main objective of the Damai Laut Golf Series 2017 which is to invite golfers to play in an award winning golf course.”
Wan Kamaruzaman grabbed the inaugural gross champion title with a gross score of 75, winning himself a trophy, Sharp television set 50” model and a 3D/2N stay at Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut.
The nett title went to Enddy Norhisham (18) who carded a nett score of 67 to win a trophy, Sharp television set 40” model and a 3D/2N stay at Swiss-Garden Beach Resort Damai Laut.
Event partners for the Damai Laut Golf Series 2017 included Heineken, Oman Air and Crest Link.
