LANGKAWI: The Kedah government is confident of achieving the zero complaint target for cleanliness in all local authority (PBT) areas in the state by the end of this year.
State Local Government and Housing Committee chairman, Datuk Badrul Hisham Hashim said the target could be achieved based on the significant reduction in the number of complaints received in the first three months of this year as compared to previous years.
"From January to March this year, only 28 complaints on cleanliness were received from across the state compared to the thousands received in previous years," he told reporters after opening the 'Ladies Market', bazaar at Pekan Rabu Complex here yesterday.
On the bazaar which caters to women's needs, Badrul Hisham said it was set up to help attract more tourists to the island.
The bazaar organised jointly by Langkawi District Office and Langkawi Tourism Association will operate until May 8. — Bernama
