ALOR STAR: PAS Youth has voted in favour of cutting all ties with PKR during the party's 63rd Muktamar today.
The motion was passed without being debated, similar with the one passed by the Dewan Ulama yesterday.
The motion which was proposed by Kuala Terengganu delegate Abdul Rahman Che Mat during the Youth Muktamar, was supported by all the delegates.
In presenting his motion, Abdul Rahman labelled PKR as opportunistic and suggested that PAS should sever all ties with the party.
"There were many attacks and slander towards the PAS president and the party.
"Prior to this, we used to have the 'tahaluf siyasi' (political cooperation) with them, with certain conditions, but it has been violated, we propose to break ties," he said.
Yesterday, the party's Ulama wing also unanimously agreed to break all ties with PKR, while the Muslimat decided to leave the matter to the highest governing body of the party which is the Syura Council.
The motion however will be passed to the PAS Central Committee and the Syura Council will decide on the motion.
Meanwhile, PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution urged PAS to make the final decision on the 'tahaluf siyasi' with PKR and also their position in the Selangor state government.
He said any decision on the 'tahaluf siyasi' with PKR will affect PAS' position in the Selangor state administration.
"I am monitoring the progress of the PAS Muktamar in view that it is related with PKR and the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition's strategy for the 14th general election.
"I also take note of the motion which was approved without being debated and I will not be surprised if the same motion is approved during the Muktamar," he said in a statement today.
Saifuddin also expressed regret on the attack towards Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin AlI during the debate and also PAS' intention to lead several states including Selangor.
He added that any decision made by PAS is solely the right of the party and PKR will respect it.
"It is however best for PAS not to delay in making a decision to cut all ties with PKR," he said, adding the honourable thing to do following their decision, would be for PAS members to relinquish their positions in the Selangor state government.
