Tahfiz school incident : 107 students, 14 staff undergo medical examination

KOTA TINGGI: The principal of the tahfiz school where Mohamed Thaqif Amin Mohd Gaddafi (pix) pursued his religious studies, confirmed that the health department had conducted examinations on all its students and staff.
Afdhaluddin Ismail in a statement here today, said the checks were carried out on Wednesday on 107 students and 14 staff members.
"The report of the medical examinations will be issued by the health department. So far no students were referred to the hospital," he said.
Yesterday State Health, Environment, Education and Information Committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said the Health Department had examined a number of students at the school to ensure they do not present the same symptoms as Thaqif Mohamad Amin had.
The medical screenings were conducted following instructions from Johor Sultanah Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah.
Mohamad Thaqif Amin whose legs were amputated following alleged abuse by an assistant warden at the tahfiz school died at 2.05pm on Wednesday at the Sultan Ismail Hospital.
His remains were buried at Felda Bukit Aping Timur Muslim Cemetery at 12.37am the next day. — Bernama
