KUALA LUMPUR: Heavy rains and strong winds for almost an hour in the city centre resulted in uprooted trees and damage to the roof of a private university here.
A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department said they received a distress call from the university at Jalan Menara Gading in Taman Connaught at 3.50pm.
"A team of fire and rescue personnel was sent to the scene, but no one was hurt in the incident," he said.
The next course of action has been left to the university's management.
In Taman Bukit Cheras, an uprooted tree damaged a car at about 3pm and over in Taman Seri Petaling, the same incident occurred where another car was damaged at 3.16pm.
Four other vehicles were also damaged by uprooted trees at Taman Bukit Segar and Taman Desa Petaling.
Firemen were deployed to remove the trees while no casualties were reported.
