KUALA LUMPUR: A large collection of Sultan Muhammad V memorabilia will be displayed at the 'Pameran Raja Kita' (Our King's Exhibition) from May 3 until Sept 4 at the Royal Museum here in conjunction with His Majesty's installation as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Among the items include identity card, driving licence, badges, school uniforms, as well as other personal collections of great sentimental value throughout the course of His Majesty's life.
Museums Department director-general Datuk Kamarul Baharin A. Kasim said besides the personal memorabilia of Sultan Muhammad V which were obtained from the Kelantan Palace, the exhibition would also showcase the history, background and activities of the King.
"The exhibition is open to all Malaysians and foreign visitors free of charge," he said when met by Bernama recently.
Kamarul Baharin said the 'Pameran Raja Kita' exhibition would also display the Seven Wills of Malay Rulers so that Malaysians would continue holding on to the wills to ensure the prosperity and peace of the multi-racial and multi-religious country.

The wills, signed by the then Malay Rulers on Aug 5, 1957 as the agreement to form the constitution of Persekutuan Tanah Melayu (Federated Malay States), stated:
* We shall call this land Persekutuan Tanah Melayu (now known as Malaysia).
* We declare that up to 50% of mountains, lakes, forest reserves and Malay reserve land are kept for our children and grandchildren, with the rest for other races.
* We set up the Royal Malay Regiment to protect you, your children and grandchildren and your properties and to quell unrest and external threats.
* We retain and guarantee the government and the sovereignty of the Malay rulers in this nation.
* We declare that Islam is the official religion of the federation.
* We state that Malay is the national language.
* We entrust the Malay rulers to safeguard the special position of the Malays and the legitimate interests of other communities (later added the special position of Sabah and Sarawak natives).

The royal exhibition will be held for the second time at the old Istana Negara, which has been turned into a Royal Museum.
The first exhibition was held in 2012, in conjunction with the installation of the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.

Kamarul Baharin said the previous edition received overwhelming response from the visitors comprising students, researchers, educators, foreign tourists and non-governmental organisations.
He also said the department had collaborated with various quarters including the National Archives, National Library and the Information Department, in gathering the items to be showcased.
He added that one of two rehearsals was held on April 27 and the other would be held on May 1, before His Majesty graces the launching (ceremony) on May 2. — Bernama
