Gagasan Sejahtera more loyal and inclusive: Hadi

ALOR STAR: PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has described the new political pact of Gagasan Sejahtera as more loyal (setiakawan) in nature and involved all races.
He said the pact involved multiracial society even though it propels Islam as the settlement but at the same time there is a need to understand that Islam is a perfect religion including in its ideology and politics.
"If there are Chinese or Indian parties in this country that can fight to promote their political theory which relates to Buddhism or Hinduism, there is no reason that they cannot accept the Islamic political approach without touching the freedom of religion", he said during a press conference after the launch of the 63rd PAS Muktamar at Kedah PAS Complex near here today.
He stressed that is why they need to introduce the culture of matured and prosperous politics (Budaya Politik Matang Sejahtera, BPMS) as an alternative to other pacts that PAS used to be in.
He said one of the reasons Gagasan Sejahtera was formed is because there were political partners in Pakatan Harapan (PH) who did not respect the Islamic approach in PAS' struggle.
"The Islamic principles that PAS brought is the borderline which cannot be disturbed, we did not disturbed others, but they disturbed us, that is why we formed the new coalition", he said.
Last year, PAS and a new party Ikatan formed a new political pact as an alternative avenue or third block for the voters who fed up with the current political situation.
He also blamed DAP which he claimed had rejected the leadership of Islam in this country and has contradicted PAS' struggle which is firm on the Islamic constitution.
Hadi has described the party as chauvinist.
"A majority of Malaysians are Muslim. That is why in a multiracial country, we must respect one another.
"But when they (DAP) brought chauvinist believes which intended to disrespect others, thus contradicting our struggles", he said.
On Sarawak Report, Abdul Hadi said, PAS has to take action in order to safeguard the party's dignity and has to counter the slander and lies against the party.
"Anything that touch our honour, we have to act ", he said.
When asked whether PAS has any political relation with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), Abdul Hadi said PAS has evaluated the party relationship with PPBM and has decide not to have any relation with them.
He said that PPBM is a party without direction and determination in their objective.
"They have no idea who are their leader, that is why we decide not to have political cooperation with them", he said.
