LUMUT: The Janamanjung Fellowship Ride (JMFR) 2017 organised by Tenaga Nasional Berhad's (TNB) fully owned subsidiary, TNB Janamanjung Sdn Bhd in Teluk Batik, near here, attracted 1,012 local and foreign participants, today.
The 10th edition of the JMFR was flagged off by Perak Tourism, Arts, Culture, Multimedia and Communications committee chairman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi.
Nolee Ashilin said the state government was proud and welcomed the initiative to organise the JMFR because the ride was able to draw tourists to the district of Manjung since 2008.
"The presence of more than 1,000 participants in the event gives a big impact to the district, including economic benefits and revenue for the people as well as help promote Visit Perak Year 2017," said Nolee Ashilin in her speech after flagging off the participants at Taman Awam, Teluk Batik.
Meanwhile, TNB vice president (Sponsorship) Datuk Zainudin Ibrahim said though participation in the JMFR has been increasing year after year, TNB would improve the programme from time to time to maintain the ride as an annual event.
"We can see the response increasing from the start of the JMFR in 2008. For that we have to thank the Perak state government for the support and opportunity given to us to host the JMFR every year, thus giving us an opportunity to promote Perak, especially Lumut, Manjung and the surrounding areas," he said.
Mohd Hakimi Hasan, 33, a participant from Kedah who started taking part in the JMFR since last year said the programme has become a must attend events for him every year.
"JMFR is a fun filled activity because every detail has been well organised and systematic — the route, food and drinks and safety — have been given due consideration.
The 110km ride covering Pantai Remis, Beruas and Ayer Tawar was adopted as a yearly programme by the Perak government three years ago.
Themed "Better Environment, Brighter Future", the JMFR 2017 was also in line with TNB efforts to preserve the environment for the future generation as well as promote Perak as a popular tourist destination. — Bernama
