MACC calls on employees to declare corruption, abuse of power 'public enemy No. 1'

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has called on employees in the country to support the anti-graft body in urging the government to declare corruption and power abuse as the country's "public enemy No. 1".
MACC chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad (pix) said power abuse and corruption practices are detrimental to the image of the nation.
"In conjunction with this year's Labour Day, I would like to take the opportunity to wish a very Happy Labour Day to all workers for their contributions towards the success of Malaysia.
"I would like to urge our workers to attain a fair pay and benefits. The benefits should never be attained through abuse of power and corrupt practices," he said in a statement today.
Dzulkifli said he seeks the workers' courage and the support from the government to declare corruption and power abuse 'Public Enemy No. 1' of the country.
Earlier on April 17, Dzulkifli had also urged Dewan Negara members to declare corruption and power abuse as the country's "public enemy No. 1".
He said corruption and abuse of power continue to thrive as enforcement agencies fail to execute the responsibilities given to them.
Dzulkifli was speaking to members of the Senate in Parliament today which was also attended by its president Datuk Seri S. A.Vigneswaran.
