ALOR STAR: Traders at the expo site of the Kedah PAS Complex are not satisfied with the organiser's preparation during the party's 63rd Muktamar.
Most traders who spoke to theSun said they were disappointed with the condition of the site that made it diffcult to conduct business activities.
Food and beverage vendor Jabar Kassim, 29, said the amount he paid for the five-day event was not worth it as the ground is muddy and flooded.
"I paid RM2,000 for rental, but the condition of the site hinders our movement, making it difficult for us to sell our wares.
"The organisers should have been more efficient in managing such a big event," he said.
Jabar said he is not sure if he would be able to break even as the stormy weather at night would affect attendance to the event.
Another trader Harun Mat, from Kulim, also expressed his regret over the handling of the event.
"The organisors should have prepared proper places for us and proper parking lots for visitors.
"They should not organise the event just for the sake of having an event, it must be managed efficiently and in an orderly manner," the 42-year-old said.
However, Noriah Man, 45, said she is satisfied with the way the PAS organising committee managed the expo site, although she agreed it could be improved in future.
When met at the expo site, rental committee chairman Omar Kassim concurred that the condition and proceedings of the event could be improved.
He said he was aware of the problems faced by the traders and conveyed his apologies to them.
To ensure it would not happen again, he called on traders to provide input on how to manage the event better.
"We have provided the best for the traders, we will plan and organise it more efficiently in the future," he said.
The expo site at the PAS Muktamar is closed today and has been cordoned off by authorities after heavy rain coupled with strong winds blew away the main tent on Saturday night.
The Muktamar proceedings however continued at the main hall of the Kedah PAS Complex.
